The River and it’s Lost and Found Titanium Ring

August 29th, 2009 by Oscar Javier

by Oscar Javier

If you grew up in the central valley and had a river near your town, most likely you found your down time floating on the cool waters enjoying the summer sun with family or friends. It’s a traditional getaway on tubes that takes 2-3 hours to complete.

On this particular weekend, we gathered a group of 11 rubber doughnut drifters to adventure the river and beat the heat. Several beach coves made perfect water parking lots for hanging out, swimming, and just relaxing.

My wife and I enjoyed this type of recreation years before we married and this was our first trip down the river as married tubers. It generally felt the same except for my new titanium wedding ring.

My titanium mens wedding band was carefully selected by my wife to reflect my adventurous spirit. It has a flat profile and 3 off-center grooves that give it a sporty feel as well. I constantly get compliments from those that see it.

We were at the halfway point and floated into a beach area. We stayed a good while then left. You don’t think about how the cold water can cause the fingers to shrink when your having a good time. Sure enough my ring must have slipped off in the cold water because I discovered it gone from my finger shortly after coming out of the water.

We had a terrific day of tubing down the river that was clouded by the loss of my new wedding band. It did not make for a happy wife which of course makes for an unhappy husband.

I did not feel like it but was talked into going again two weeks later tubing down the river with friends. Our group, as expected, stopped at the beach cove we normally spend time in to relax and wait for a second group to meet up with us. I was casually relaxing by the shore and feeling the sandy bottom as I felt a smooth rock and picked it out of the water only to discover my lost wedding ring. What are the odds! My wife was ecstatic. I considered myself the luckiest man alive that day.

I have told that story countless times to people. I consider it remarkable to have lost a wedding band in the river, go two weeks, and find it again. The odds have got to be 100 million to one or higher. It was my incredible titanium wedding band recovery.

Taking Care Of The Diamonds In Your Jewelry Pendants

August 29th, 2009 by Karen Fernando

by Lynn Watson

This advice comes from the desk of Lynn Watson. Here she talks about how to look after those lovely diamonds in your jewelry pendants. Always remember that, while diamonds may be resilient and strong, they nevertheless should still be cared for as if they were fine breakable china. Diamonds can scratch and chip if youre not careful, and they can also get very dirty with all the oils from your skin and cosmetics, perfumes and hair sprays.

There is a number of ways you can clean, store and protect your diamonds. You can use a commercial jewelry cleaner to quickly clean your diamonds and make them look pretty. Either dip your jewelry lightly in or soak them fully in a tub to give them an ultrasound bath. Another good way is to use cold water and ammonia. This trick works very well to dissolve any oils that might have accumulated around your stones. Before you dip or polish your diamonds with anything, make certain that the other materials that your jewelry pendants are made of wont end up getting damaged.

Consider using an eyebrow brush, or alternatively any other type of a soft brush to clean your jewelry pendants. This will help to clean in and around your jewelry pendants’ settings’ prongs. Hold diamonds by the settings they are held by. Avoid touching the diamonds themselves wherever possible. And above all else, if you insist on cleaning your jewelry in the bathroom, (some girls will never learn!) then please, please, please make sure that you shut down the stopper on the sink! Otherwise you could end up spending the rest of the evening, not at that wonderful ballroom, but instead fishing all about in the plumbing for your valuable jewelry!

You can use a soft toothbrush to clean your diamonds. Give them a gentle rinse under cold water and apply a soft brush to remove any unwanted particles from the gaps in between the stones and the settings. A few experts will tell you not to do this. After all, there is small risk of displacing the stone. If you want to use this method, then just be sure to be gentle with your jewelry pendants. The best solution is probably to use a traditional commercial preparation or water and ammonia.

Use a tea infuser or warm running water to rinse your jewelry pendants. Leave them in a cool dry place on a lint-free surface or clean towel so they can dry naturally. Wherever possible, place your jewelry pendants in a soft, velvet-lined box, keeping all your rings apart from the rest of your jewelry. Dont let your jewelry pendants get all mixed up with other jewelry. Start to get in the habit of doing this regularly and you will protect your jewelry’s setting and stones.

When traveling abroad with your jewelry, be sure to carry all your jewelry in a soft, lined jewelry box or roll. You can buy specialist jewelry cases that are designed especially for traveling with jewelry. If you are one of those women who simply refuses to take off your engagement and wedding rings, that is fine, but please remember to take care of them. I’m sorry, but you simply have to take them off if youre about to use harsh abrasive cleaning chemicals or solutions. Alternatively, you can get someone else to do it of course! If you are maybe moving house or whatever, and there is a risk you might cause your diamonds to bang against walls or furniture, then again, please break your rule for this short period of time. Always remember to store your jewelry pendants together with all your other jewelry in a safe deposit box when staying in hotels. You’ll sleep better for it and no doubt you will enjoy your days that much more too.

Little People Need Custom Shirts

August 28th, 2009 by Perone Bellows

by Perone Bellows

If your body is not the “standard” size, you’re going to have trouble finding clothes. Shirts, suits, shoes and pants will never quite fit. When you buy a suit you expect some alterations and pants can be adjusted too. Some shoe stores have shoes for very large feet and if your feet are very small, perhaps a child’s shoe will fit.

Shirts however are another matter. If you are short, say under 56 and overweight, the big and tall shops wont have anything that really fits you. The sleeve length will be too long and the shoulders will hang off your frame. Basically you will look like youre wearing your fathers shirt. If you have other physical challenges, such as being a dwarf or a little person or if you are very skinny, you will search endlessly for shirts that will fit, only to be disappointed.

While it’s true that looks aren’t everything, in our society they do count for something. And if you’re not trying to look as good as you could, people will notice and they may not say anything, but your opportunities for success will be reduced. There is a relatively simple and inexpensive solution to this problem, get custom tailored shirts.

You probably think that custom tailoring is expensive and it’s hard to find a good tailor. That was true in the old days but today, with the advent of the internet, getting a custom tailored shirt is easy.

I know you’ve heard that having a shirt custom made is hugely expensive. Yes, it can be. But right now, you can get custom made, tailored shirt that fits you perfectly for as little as $30 - $50. You may be paying that much or more for your standard shirts that don’t fit you very well. If you work in an office, then you know that how you look can have a bearing on getting a promotion or a raise. Nobody has to know that you bought a custom shirt, but they will notice that there’s something different about you.

Think about it, if your arms are 28 long, your neck is 17 and your waist is 48 youre never going to find a shirt that fits. If your arms are 33, your neck is 12 and your waist is 20 inches, off the rack shirts are going to make you look like a little boy playing dress up with his daddys clothes. If the length of your trunk (shoulders to waist) is only 18 and your arm length is 22 then maybe you can find something in the childrens clothing section, but is that really the best answer for your problem?

Custom tailoring is the answer. You measure your neck, arms, trunk, waist, shoulders and choose the fabric, the style, the colors and the buttons. The shirt is made to fit you and only you. When you wear it you know you look good and people will notice. They probably wont say anything overt like, Is that a custom shirt? But they will notice that you look more professional, more stylish and more competent.

Ladies Golf Apparel and Fashion

August 28th, 2009 by Rhys Jones

by Rhys Jones

I was reading one of those ‘Golfing for Women’ magazines the other day and began wondering where the women live, who wear the golf attire modeled in women’s golfing magazines? I’ve never seen women, not even the professionals, who would wear such expensive and outrageous clothes.

It’s so simple to spend tons of money kitting yourself out for the sport of golf. Think about hats, sunglasses, gloves, shirts, shorts, socks, windbreakers and shoes, and it is obvious that the costs add up very quickly, even if you do your shopping at cheap online sales. Then you have to add in the cost of clubs, balls, bag, cart and fees and you have to play a round of golf really quite frequently to keep the “CPU” (cost per use) down to a tolerable level.

One full-page glossy advert showed a beautiful young ‘golfing lady’ in very tiny hot-pants (as if that’s allowed on golfing greens!) that cost nearly $300, a golf shirt at almost $600, a jacket by Ralph Lauren at almost $200 and two-toned Utuser shoes costing $400 plus.

That totals just about $1,500! I know that it would be impossible for me to get the CPU on that outfit down to anywhere near a normal limit in my entire golfing life! Please don’t misunderstand me - I do love clothes and I do really, really love shoes, but I could never afford, nor even want, golf shoes or pants that cost as much as most people’s weekly wages.

OK, you need comfy golf shoes that don’t look like something your grandmother would have worn, but you can easily find less expensive and still fashionable shoes.

I have bought a couple of really stylish golf outfits, even though none of them are famous brand names. If I were to add up the cost of all of those articles of clothing, it would not add up to the price of a Tse golf shirt. Personally, I would prefer to have several trendy outfits than one that is priced way over-the-top.

If I were to wear a $1,500 set of clothes to play golf in, I would just be too worried about getting it dirty or sweating in it to play a proper game of golf.

Choosing A Tie Clip For Your Tuxedo

August 28th, 2009 by Victor R. Santerino

by Victor R. Santerino

The reason we wear a tie is not merely to afford a complementary link between the shirt and men’s jacket, but also to conceal the unattractive buttons on a shirt. The tie clip serves to maintain the tie in the right spot, always looking neat and tidy.

Men’s tie clips are a handy fashion accessory. Whereas the tie pin must be pressed all the way through the material of the shirt where it can ultimately cause damage, the tie clip slides onto the shirt and tie, securing it safely in position in the process.

You don’t want your tie dripping into your coffee cup or getting stuck in the office copier, do you? That’s why you need a clip. You’re not living some comedy routine.

Danger lurks with a loose tie. Accidentally dipping it into a candle flame over a restaurant table and going up in flames yourself was not what you envisioned when you thought of that romantic evening.

The tie clip, spring loaded, can be worn in one of two ways. It can be just a bit more than half way down the tie if you’re really looking to keep it secure. It can be somewhat higher if what you’re looking for is the visual effect of a particularly nice one.

You can choose a generic clip, one with a draped chain, or one that personalizes itself for you with your name or initials or the name or logo of your business, team, hobby, etc.

Wearing your clip with a tuxedo makes the suit that much more polished. Gold is pretty standard because it is so elegant.

A formal black tux is commonly paired with a white shirt and a dark, solid tie; the glint of a gold tie clip completes this classic pairing. Modern tuxedo choices, however, include a rainbow range of colors and pattern choices. Defining your personal style should always be guided by common sense and good taste.

What are You Waiting for?

August 27th, 2009 by Johnathan Marx

by Craig Smith

I know way too many women who have yet to buy themselves some sexy lingerie, and I just don’t get it. I created my assortment when I was a teenager, and I continue to epand it to this day. And I think I’ll continue for a while.

I understand, though, some ladies start late and don’t get into lingerie until a later age. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s never too late to buy yourself some sexy lingerie!

So for those ladies who are slowing easing into this clothing trend, where do you start? Let me tell you, it’s not as scary as it might seem. I know it can be overwhelming with the numerous stores and the variety of designs to choose from.

For those of you who wish to express your kinky side, I suggest some role play. Some specialty boutiques have plenty of “costumes” in stock like school girl outfits or angels and devils.

If the more simple, conservative items are more your style, then go for a cute two-piece set. It doesn’t have to be lacy and revealing. Some of my personal favorite pieces include cotton boy shorts and matching tank tops.

Although the less revealing pieces don’t seem like typical lingerie, they can still be quite sexy. As they say, “to each his own.” Sexy lingerie is what you make of it. Women are made with different shapes and tastes, and our undergarments most certainly reflect that.

So for those of you just getting into sexy undergarments, I say it’s never too late. There’s enough variety to suit anybody’s tastes.

Whether you’re into scandalous pieces that leave little to the imagination or the most conservative full-length nightgown, I’m positive you can find exactly what tickles your fancy.
