A Fitted Tuxedo — A Necessity for Large Men

Minute differences in the clothing you choose to wear can make a large change to your appearance. This is an important fact for heavy or large men to consider. An improperly fitted tuxedo will only accentuate your large size.

A number of techniques can help create the illusion that a person is smaller than he actually is. As women are well aware, black makes a person appear slimmer. This is why black dresses are so very popular.

Pinstripes can also make you look slimmer. However, too bold a stripe will have the opposite affect. If choosing a pinstripe always look for something subtle.

The fit of a tuxedo, in almost any color or pattern will make a very large difference, although heavy people should not pick a pattern. There is an unlimited number of shapes and sizes people end up being. It is probably not possible to get a tuxedo right off the rack and find it fits nicely and looks as good as something that is custom made for you.

At the first fitting make sure you are standing properly. The way you sand will change the final result. Things to talk about with the tailor include color, material, style and even accessories. These items will give you an advantage for special events.

I’m sure you have all been to the tailor’s and experienced him grabbing the front of your jacket and pulling it towards himself. This is to check the amount of space you have available. If there’s too much of a gap, the jacket will hang loose on you and appear to be big and “flappy”. Too little space will cause he tux to strain and bulge, merely accentuating your frame and put pressure on the buttons.

The length must be perfect. The bottom of the jacket should match where the top of your leg meets your butt. If it’s too long, your legs will appear shorter. If it’s too short you will look like you are still at school.

The tailor will also be able to make your pants fit just right. You will look messy if the pants are too loose or too tight. When buying a tuxedo off the rack, it is just not possible to get all these aspects exactly right.
