If a reseller can locate a wholesaler with low prices, the reseller can raise the profit margin and still offer it to consumers at a fair price. An item that can be hard to find at low prices is jewelry. Most resellers easily raise the profit margin up to 200 percent. However, it can be hard finding a wholesaler who will sell jewelry in bulk at a fair price. By following the steps below you can locate and get wholesale clothing and jewelry

For any type of resale that you do a tax ID is generally required. You can request one through your state’s website. Or, visit your state’s taxation and revenue department to request a tax ID. What this number does is recognize you as a business taxpayer. It also allows you to purchase items for resale without having to pay sales tax. Many clothing or jewelry wholesalers will require this number when you apply for an account with their company.

Even though this number allows you to begin conducting business as a reseller, there is something else you have to be aware of. You will be required to pay taxes monthly, quarterly or yearly now. And, as a requirement of the IRS, you are to report any sales you have made during the quarter. This is how most resale businesses pay their taxes. Begin your search for wholesalers around your local area. Check into small department stores and vendor shops. They can either direct you to a website or they may not tell you at all.

Should you not have any luck locally, begin a new search online. As you begin your search online, make sure you always look into any wholesaler company. You need to make sure the company is legit and that you’re not buying any stolen goods. Always cross check a company with the Better Business Bureau. While it may not happen to you, it is a risk you take. Better to be careful instead of wind up in a situation like that.

Clothing or jewelry can be very high in price when buying in bulk. There are some companies that are online which pose as wholesalers, but they’re really middle men resellers. What are middle men resellers? These are individuals that purchase bulk directly from the wholesaler, and then resell that bulk listed as wholesale price. However, they make a profit from it by raising the wholesale margin some. It’s not an illegal action, but this can be a disappointment to new resellers wanting to make a large profit. These middle men can be avoided by checking into each company completely. Remember; buy directly from a reputable wholesaler that doesn’t have any middle men.

Wholesalers require their resellers to purchase a minimum amount of products. For example, you may have to order a minimum amount of $250 or $500 dollars worth of inventory on your first order. Sometimes this can be lowered if you remain a faithful, loyal customer. Other wholesalers can impose a larger minimum order. This is generally on products that are less expensive because it takes quite a few of them in order to meet shipping requirements. Contact wholesalers and ask questions about their minimum orders.

After you’ve located some wholesalers you’re interested in, download or request a reseller application. You will need your tax ID for this application. Your company name, fax number, phone number, estimated monthly purchase and how much business you do a month will be some information required as well. While it can be a lot of information, you only have to submit it once.

Finding wholesale clothing and jewelry is not a difficult task. But, the hard part is finding the real wholesalers and not the middle men. Have your tax ID ready after you have completed your search and found several reputable companies. Fill out your information and send back to the company for approval. Once you are approved you can begin your first order.
