How To Measure Bra Size
September 18th, 2009 by Elle Ashley Love
Most women overlook the importance of knowing their actual bra size and end up with poorly suited bras. A bra which is loose or too tight can cause irritation and in some cases serious circulation problems coupled with other issues. Remember that a bra is meant to be comfortable and fit you well. Another aspect of a poorly fitted bra is that it affects your posture and appearance, causing you to feel annoyed and distressed for the whole day. Let us take a look at the quick guides to measure your bra size.
First thing you have to measure is the band size. This step has to be conducted accurately as it affects how your bra holds up. Have a flexible measuring tape wrapped around the circumference of your chest, right below your bra (preferred that you put it on). If measurements tell an odd number, round it off to the next even number. That will be your band size. However if it tells you an even number, you may either want to stick to it or add another 2 inches to it. If you’re still not sure, ask the sales girl for help.
The next step is to determine your cup size. To do so, take measurements on the circumference of the highest point on your chest over your breasts. Following that, subtract the band size from this measurement. Compare the result against a conversion table. In every inch difference, move up by a cup size starting from A. For example if the difference results as 1 inch you need an A cup. For 2 inches you need a B cup and so onforth.
Obviously, regardless of how accurate your measuring is, it does not mean that you can just pick up any bra that matches your size. If you are unaware, true band and cup sizes can vary quite significantly depending on the models and brands you choose. What you need is to find one that can fit you well. If you did it well, the sizes you measured should get you rather close. And it is only right that you can find your actual size. Ultimately, a fitting bra should look right, and overall feel right.
You only need to measure your bra size once a while to upkeep your appearance for a long time. Now that understand how important your bra plays on the confidence level you feel for the day it’s time to start choosing a bra that suits you.
