Measuring Bra Size

September 15th, 2009 by Elle Ashley Love

A bra which is too loose, tight or uncomfortable can bring about unnecessary pain, irritation and other circulatory problems. Maybe it is more important than other undergarment that a bra should be meant to be comfortable and well fitting. That is why it is important to know your bra size. A badly fitted bra may well affect your posture, eventually bringing down your overall appearance for the day. Measuring the bra size is usually overlooked by many women but it really is necessary for them to know. Read on…

The first steps is to measure your band size. The band size can be determined by measuring the perimeter of your chest. It has to be conducted as accurately as possible because it affects the way the bra holds up. The only way to do it is to have a flexible tape tightly wrapped around your chest. It is preferable to do while wearing your bra and measure right below it. Your band size is then known using a conversion table (or simply by asking a sales girl).

Next you have to measure the cup size. It is really much easier to determine than you might think. What you need to do is to measure the peak point, circumference of your chest. The cup size is then obtained by subtracting that number from your band size and using a conversion table. Taking an example, if the difference is one inch, your cup size is A and if it’s two inches, your cup is size B and so on and so forth.

Obviously, regardless of how accurate your measuring is, it does not mean that you can just take any bra that matches your size. If you are unaware, true band and cup sizes can vary quite significantly depending on the brands and models you choose. What you need is to find one that can fit you nicely. If you did it properly, the sizes you measured should get you rather close. And it is only necessary that you can find your actual size. At the end of the day, a fitting bra should look right, and overall feel right.

Getting your bra size is a relatively easy task. For a process that takes you less than 5 minutes to complete to upkeep your appearance for a long time, don’t you think you should be doing it at least once a while? It’s time to choose a comfortable bra!
