There are lots of different hemlines to select from… mini’s…knee-length…below the knee (50’s) and now the maxi! It can be very confusing . Which length is most flattering on which body type? How short is too short? I will break it down for you.

Mini Skirts:The after 35 rule depends on you. Listen, I know you saw this rule on “What Not To Wear” and it applies in many cases, but as long as you have nice legs, feel free to throw the rule book away! BUT, make sure the skirt is no shorter than your middle finger when you hang your arm to your side. Any shorter than that and you may look cheap, as in trashy. I wouldn’t recommend a mini to anyone who is on the heavy side. If you want to wear a mini, but are worried about flaws on your legs you can try a sunless tanner or wear tights. NOTE: If you’re going for the short skirt and showing off your legs, I would wear something more conservative on top i.e. a long sleeved blouse or a turtle-neck sweater. I have a 1 naked body part rule.

Knee-length: The most universally flattering length is at the knee. This is your go-to skirt length. It flatters every height and every body type . It is also always the most office appropriate! With knee length , give or take an inch. If it’s a inch above, fine. This is actually preferable if you’re on the petite side. Inch below is also fine. You can wear almost anything with the knee length skirt: A blouse, shell and blazer, sweater, etc.

Below the Knee:1950’s Style! This skirt is really in style for fall. It’s flirty and fun! It’s a wonderful length and shape for curvy ladies. Not to mention it’s incredibly ladylike and sophisticated. I wouldn’t recommend this length if you’re trying to snare a man (see Minis). But, it’s great for work and a demure night out! Pair with a sweater and shell, an off the shoulder knit or just a really soft and pretty cashmere, short-sleeved sweater. Don’t forget the skinny waist belt, structured handbag and pointed toe shoes!

Maxi Skirt: These floor skimming , Muslim friendly skirts are tough to pull off, especially for short women. I think it’s meant for very tall , very slim , bohemian type women and that’s about all . One wrong move and you can go from sporting a fresh, fall trend to looking like you’ve busted out a burka. Be very careful with this length. (Not recommended for work or attracting the man of your dreams .)

Basically, don’t hesitate to hem it up (or down) this fall.

Equally, we have Monica Botkier. She is magnificent. Women all over the world fall head over heels for her designs. Without a doubt, the wonderful designer she is started when a major part of her early life was spent as a fashion photographer. Her designs are usually balanced between what we will call function and form. Fashion enthusiasts all over the world go for her creations. She gives sophistication, hardware and details… wrap enclosed in one.

Nothing should sidetrack you while working out, whether you frequent the gym or head out to your favorite park. If your clothes are comfortable, there is a higher likelihood that you are going to work out harder and for a greater length of time.

If you are a man, you should always opt to wear shorts when you go to the gym, and the shorts you select should be loose fitting but not overly baggy or long. By wearing shorts you are letting your legs sweat and breathe while you workout. Sweat helps prevent your body from overheating by allowing it to cool itself down, making it one of the most important elements of working out.

Joggers can work if shorts are not an option. These are especially appropriate if you are training your upper body. You still need to consider fit. The joggers must be loose enough to allow movement and to permit your body to cool itself off. Synthetic material is less comfortable and inhibits the body’s cooling mechanisms. Choose natural materials as they breathe and are much more comfortable to wear. Natural fibers will allow you to remain focused.

Many people feel embarrassed or self conscious in a vest, so they cover themselves with T-shirts. There is no cause for this because everyone at the gym is there for the same reason you are. They are focused on their fitness goals, not on what you wore to the gym that day.

You want to make sure that you can breathe easily as well as your body, so avoid tight clothing, especially tight tops and those that have zippers that go all the way to your neck. Your attire should allow air to flow freely in and out of it.

The last thing you should keep in mind is that going to the gym is not about trying to look fashionable. Wearing some basic clothes are a better option than something flashy and expensive, and will also work better. The most important thing is to be comfortable and able to more freely as you work out so that you can achieve the best results.
