An Introduction For Jewelery

February 15th, 2010 by John Coleman

Jewelery or jewelry is an item of personal adornment, such as a necklace, ring, brooch or bracelet, that is worn by a person. It may be made from gemstones or valuable metals, but may be from any supplementary material, and may be loved because of geometric or other patterns, or meaningful symbols.Earrings and other body rings are also measured to be jewelery, while body art is not.

Also, items affixed to a garment, such as buttons, are not measured to be jewelery, even if they are abnormal and highly ornamental.

The word jewelery is derived from the word jewel, which was Anglicized from the Old French “jouel” circa the 13th century.Furthermore tracing leads back to the Latin word “jocale”, meaning plaything.Jewelery is one of the oldest forms of body decoration, recently found 100,000 year-old beads made from Nassarius shells are thought to be the oldest known jewelery.

Jewelery is occasionally seen as wealth storage or functionally as holding a garment or hair collectively. It has from very early times also been regarded as a form of personal decoration. The first pieces of jewelery were made from natural materials, such as bone, animal teeth, shell, wood and carved stone. More exotic jewelery was probably finished for wealthy people or as indications of social status. In some cases people were buried with their jewelery.

Jewelery has been made to decorate nearly every body part, from hairpins to toe rings and many more types of jewelery. While high-quality jewelery is made with gemstones and precious metals, such as silver or gold, there is also a growing demand for art jewelery where plan and creativity is prized above material value. In addition, there is the less costly dress jewelery, made from lesser value materials and mass-produced.

Females are more eager then man to buy jewelery. The percentage of Ornaments buying is increasing day by day very speedily. No one can ignore jewellery’s importance.

Discover The Way To Pick Silver Jewellery Items

November 26th, 2009 by Mark Ferguson

Silver has long been one of the most sought after types of jewellery for men and women to adorn themselves with. Silver is still today one of the most popular types of jewellery in the world. While silver jewellery is not regarded to be as precious as gold or platinum, it is preferred by many people as their chief choice of jewellery. Silver jewellery can look both stylish and modern and it goes with everything and all skin types.

When you are purchasing silver jewellery you want to ensure that what you are buying is the genuine article. Although silver is cheaper than gold, there are still some shoddy silver plated or fake silver jewellery out there masquerading as real silver. To be sure that you are getting quality silver you should look for a stamp on the piece that says - 925. This is a legal requirement for all silver jewellery. If the product does not have this stamp it may not be the real deal.

Silver is usually used as an alloy, that is, it is mixed with another metal. The reason for this is that pure silver is very soft and would be scratched or broken too easily for everyday use. Sterling silver is 92. 5 per cent pure and is usually mixed with copper to strengthen the metal blend. Sterling silver is the highest quality silver that can be purchased.

Silver is less costly than gold, which means that you can find lots of different silver jewellery styles that are more creative and unique than many of the jewellery styles you will find at jewellery stores in gold. Knowing that you have jewellery that is different to everyone else’s makes it feel more special and you will enjoy wearing it even more.

Some people find that gold does not suit their particular skin tone and they prefer to wear silver as it goes with everything and matches their skin better. Others choose silver jewellery because they feel it is more radiant and youthful than gold.

If you are uncertain as to the quality of silver jewellery there is a test that is performed by jewellers to verify its genuineness. This is called the acid or nitric test. It is done by rubbing a few drops of nitric acid on the jewellery. If the liquid turns greenish, then the piece is only silver plated, but if the liquid goes grey, then the piece is a genuine silver one.

One of the great things about silver being more affordable than some other precious metals is that you can afford to have more of it. You can easily set up an impressive jewellery collection in silver, that will set you in good stead for any occasion.

Silver jewellery can be used to great effect to draw out your best features and add an extra something to your personal style. While it doesn’t normally look too good to be smothered in jewellery, selecting your pieces carefully and matching them to your needs can be devastatingly effective making you look stylish, fashionable and elegant.

If you are seeking to buy the perfect present for the person you love, you may want to consider getting silver jewellery. silver bracelets make the best present for any occasions.

Amethyst the stone of creativity - Amethyst Jewelry

November 8th, 2009 by Michelle Dorian

The amethyst gemstone is a violet quartz type gemstone that is used in a wide variety of different jewelries all across the world! It is known as an ancient gemstone as it was used by the Greeks many years ago and they were absolute infatuated with it. Currently, amethysts have come to be a very well-respected gemstone and are highly regarded in jewelry circles the world over. They are also the official birthstone for the month of February! Amethyst jewelry is just well-beloved all over the place, that’s all there really is to it.

Made mainly from silica, this gemstone measures at a reasonably hard 7 score on the Moh hardness scale. It has a very glossy texture with a transparent-like tone that really sets it apart from many of other types of gemstone jewelry. There are many different varieties of chemicals found in the amethyst that give it this texture - chief among them being manganese and sulfur. Out of all of the amethyst jewelry currently popular on the market, amethyst rings are perhaps the most popular.

Amethyst earrings are also just as popular because of their one-of-a kind texture and glossy appearance. Amethyst jewelry usually tends to feature different hues of both deep purple and also green in its jewelry. Since it has been used in ancient times, it has also begun to play a very important role with those interested in Greek Mythology.

Amethyst pendants have also been very popular - especially because despite the fact that amethysts are of very high-quality and texture, they are very cheap - something that has been incredibly popular in such a down economy. If you like jewelry with a little bit of history behind it, then amethyst gemstone jewelry should definitely be a big option for you!

The amethyst gemstone is known as the February birthstone since the amethyst is the official birthstone of February. Not only does it make for a very fitting and thoughtful gift, but it will show whoever you give the gift to that you do, in fact, care deeply about them!

Messenger Bags For Men: A Practical and COOL Bag For Dads Has Arrived!

October 4th, 2009 by Sara Smith

by Chris Smith

Designers are now listening loud and clear to fathers needs everywhere. Make me a diaper bag that doesn’t make me look like Im wearing a purse, is the cry that dads have been silently screaming all these years. Well maybe not that silently because dads everywhere now can have a messenger bag that looks cool and is also a diaper bag.

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was out alone with the kids and off to the amusement park. Mom was out of town so I was on my own. Eagerly, I got out the stroller and the kids when I saw it. My wife’s floral print, bright green, silk diaper bag was staring me in the face. I didn’t want to take it out of the trunk but I also didn’t want to carry the kids stuff around in a supermarket plastic bag either. Reluctantly I decided to take the bag but I didn’t wear it and insecurely carried like a man carrying a woman’s purse.

Messenger bags for men designed for fathers on the run are here! The thing that makes these bags unique is that they were designed for style and functionality equally. So it looks like a hip mens messenger bag but it has all the practical compartments of your wife’s, girly diaper bag.

Change em: I guess if there was one essential item a dad bag needs to have its a changing pad. I think the best ones are easily cleanable with a baby wipe and fold right out of the bag. Best are the pads that are connected to the bag so that it essentially rolls out and back in with ease.

Got Bottles? The one feature that you never think you need until you get milk spilled all over everything are baby bottle holders. Today’s bottles are designed to allow air to enter the bottle without the baby opening their mouth to release the suction. Although that’s a great feature for the kiddies, it makes for a less than leak proof bottle.

Stroller Ready: One bad thing about using a backpack as a diaper bag is that they don’t fit properly on the back of strollers. They’re awkward and cause the stroller to tip over as soon as the child gets up. Modern dad messenger bags fit strollers well and keep them in balance.

Mom Pockets: If mom should ever get stuck carrying our dad bag around then shes taken care of. Dad messenger bags have pockets for all of moms stuff that she needs.

Keep It Together: These bags are build with the busy dad in mind. As you’re child bolts out of the bathroom and you have to snatch your bag up with your free hand, don’t worry your goods are safe. These bags are designed with Velcro as well as buckles to keep them closed when on the fly.

Now there’s a COOL yet functional messenger bag for men. Watch out moms, dads are on the loose!

How to Care for Your Favorite Suit

September 22nd, 2009 by Victor R. Santerino

by Victor R. Santerino

Suits require some care. Usually all we do is hang them up between wearing them. When we buy a suit, it is probably for a specific event and once that event is over, the suit gets cleaned and hung in the closet until next time.

The next time we need to wear the suit, we will take it out of the closet, put on again, clean it if needed and put it right back in the closet again. You will notice a tradition here. This is all that you will do with your suit and you think this is enough.

Once again, you will need to wear your suit, and you remove it from your closet but this time you realize that moths have ruined your thousand dollar suit. Only then will you think that you really should have taken better care of your suit.

Moths don’t need to be left alone with your suit for too long to destroy it. Cedar is a great repellant. There are many products available to deter these little critters, but the ultimate is a wardrobe made of cedarwood.

After a men’s suit is cleaned, it should be hung up without creasing. You should hang it straight, just as you would wear it. Avoid sunlight. If the sun shines in the direction where you hang your suit and this occurs regularly, you will notice that your suit will lose its color in the area where the material is exposed.

When you take a trip, put your suit in a travel bag. These nylon bags come equipped with a hanger for your suit and the bag can be zipped up. A high quality travel bag will let you fold your suit carefully and won’t leave too many creases. When you arrive at your location, you should straighten out your suit and let it hang in a natural position for as long as you can.

As for cleaning, look around and ask for advice. Pick a dry cleaners that has been in business for a long time. A lot of the newly opened dry cleaners hire young people and don’t actually do the cleaning at their own business. They ship all of their clothes away for cleaning. Find a cleaners that cleans at the same place where their business is located.

At the same time, try to find a cleaner who will also carry out suit care alterations if required. Even if it’s simply a case of an expanding waistline. None of us stay the same shape forever.

Discount Suits. Are They Worth The Money?

September 17th, 2009 by Victor R. Santerino

In the old days, if you wanted a suit, your choices were limited. You could visit a tailor and have a suit made or you could visit a department store. Today, options are much greater. Discount suits are available all over. Big-box discount stores carry suits as do, surprisingly, grocery stores in large cities where you can find a suit, ties, and even a dress shirt for less than $100.

When considering how much to spend on a suit, think about how often and in what context you plan to wear it. If it will be something you intend to wear often it might be wise to invest money in something of better quality. There is, after all, truth to the old saying, “You get what you pay for!”

Although you may have a choice in suit colors, a black suit would be a wise purchase for the occasional suit wearer.

The two most popular occasions for wearing a suit are weddings and funerals, a black suit would fit in perfectly in both situations.

A less expensive suit will most likely crease after a full day of wear. If you plan on wearing your suit to work each day, this can leave your garment in less than desirable shape. After several weeks of this, you may be considering purchasing a more expensive suit made of virgin wool or other crease-resistant fabric.

However, for the occasional wearer it could be the answer. When sold with a suit and tie you can even be fairly certain that the colors are correctly co-coordinated.

Cheaper suits are not hand made, so it is more likely for some defects to occur. A lining may come unstitched, or a button may become loose, but don’t panic. Since you have spent a relatively small amount on this suit, you should not be overly concerned with small flaws.

Buying a less expensive off the rack suit can help you avoid a trip to the tailor for alterations. However, due body shape differences, it may be difficult to achieve a perfect fit with a standard size. If you are able to find a discount suit that fits reasonably well and you know you will not wear it often, it may be the ideal choice for you.

Men’s Wool Suits. What’s So Special About Wool?

September 11th, 2009 by Victor R. Santerino

Wool has many individual characteristics making it the perfect choice of suit material. It’s not just sheep that provide the raw material, but also some goats, camels and even the llama.

Even though wool may be more expensive to produce, the costs to purchase may be higher, and efforts to maintain may be more work than some synthetics, wool is still the number one choice of that portion of the public that is fashion conscious and particular. Suits made from wool not only look fabulous, but they are warm and comfortable.

Virgin wool, which means wool being used for the very first time is of better quality than recycled wool, although more expensive, but all in all, in grading wool for quality, the best wool is that which has the thinnest strands and no imperfections.

For additional qualities and better appearance, sometimes it is made with a combination of wool and polyester. In fact wool is considered to be the best choice for the industry. The suit made out of original wool is most comfortable to wear.

Men’s suits made from wool have much to offer, and those made from slightly heavier wools are ideal for winter, or in generally cold climates. The loft of wool, which allows air to be trapped in the fibers, which then heat from the body can warm, makes an excellent insulation, much as occurs from the thin layer of water in a diver’s wetsuit. In wet weather, wool is always warmer because it has the ability to hold a lot of water before becoming soaked through.

Wool suits travel well. If the suit is made from virgin wool, it may often be taken from a suitcase after a flight, and be perfect and ready to wear. Wool resists creasing and maintains its shape well. Care must be taken, however, in using an iron on wool. Steam can soften it, and allow you to press it carefully into shape, but using a dry iron can damage the protein fibers, often beyond repair.

Always allow a wool suit to dry out naturally if it has become wet. It’s important to lay the suit out flat to relieve pressure on any part of it, as wool loses its strength when it is wet.

The wool suit is a proud symbol and every man should keep at least one in his wardrobe. Although it may initially cost more than other clothes, in the long run we will find it cheaper when compared to its longevity.

A Few Tips on How Heavy Men Can Look Great in a Suit

August 13th, 2009 by Victor Santerino

by Victor Santerino

While there are ways to worry about losing weight, you should not have to worry about figuring out how to look your best now. Anyone will look good in a suit, and many big men are suit wearers. Suits can allow you to create the most favorable visual image when dressed appropriately, while adding a sense of style and class to your image.

Curious to find out what we are talking about here? Well, there’s a lot of information out there on what kind of suits compliment the figure of a tall well-built man. But what if you are of a shorter kind and, in addition, somewhat overweight? How can larger men choose a suit that will disguise unfavorable features of their bodies? We are not talking about a suit that will necessarily make you look thin, but the one that will not make you look bigger and heavier.

What about finding the right suit? The right suit to provide the right enhancements of some features, while possibly disguising others. Well, to be honest you will probably have to have a suit made by a professional tailor who understands how lines, colors, and the cut of a suit will affect your appearance. Keep in mind that albeit it pricey, a personalized professionally made suit will fit better than anything else you own, while being an investment that can last the rest of your life.

Next, the color. As we all know, black has a slimming effect. Choose black or a very dark gray or blue alternative. Start with this in mind when you go for your first measure.

Consider a pinstripe. A pinstripe can do a lot for the look of the suit, and the slimming effect. Avoid patterns, but keep in mind a thin pinstripe on a dark blue suit would be a great look.

Stick to the lightweight materials. Again, you should discuss this with the tailor and he will inform you of the options. Many lightweight materials are available that can be tailored to fit beautifully.

Quite important also is the often overlooked fact that you may lose weight. Consider this before you purchase any men’s suit, because there could be nothing more pointless than having your suit made to measure, then changing your measurements.

The final step is to complement your suit with the right dress shirt and tie. These additions should also work with your body, not against it. The best shirt color to go with a dark suit is white.
