The Latest Trends in Thigh High Boots
March 2nd, 2010 by Bobbie Etheridge
Over the last couple of years, women’s leather boots have been inching up higher and higher on the leg. Just a few years back, the knee high and thigh high boots were a new phenomenon and from there they’ve just taken off. They’ve gone from the supercharged runway version to being seen on the average woman at the mall.
These boots have continued to evolve and the only way to keep them fashion forward is to continue creeping up higher and higher on the thigh. This year the thigh high boot has really taken off. Open any celeb magazine and you’re sure to see some thigh high boots.
It’s an easy trend to go with since you can choose either a simple sleek style or a busy, button adorned, more spacey looking boot and both will be in style. It’s all about whether you want to attract attention or simply wear a matte black or brown sleek boot. Either way, choose high quality leather. Since there’s so much of it, you can really tell who spent a few extra dollars on high quality and who went with a vinal or latex. There are some hot colors this year, like cream, maroon, olive green and gray. Of course, black and brown will always rule, but if you’re choosing a color go with one of those.
If you’re looking to make a splash and really stand out, choose a pair that has a sheen, is flared at the top or maybe folded over with some fringe. If you’re really into this style you could go as far as getting a pair that has a garter at the top. No matter what, if you’ve got a pair of boots covering most of your leg you’ll stand out, so it’s not necessary to try to stand out more if you don’t want to. If you’re looking for a classy, modern or everyday look, go with a rounded toe and a high quality leather thats matte black or brown.
Even though the boots are getting higher and some are even looking like leggings, they’re not going to replace wearing pants. You should pair your ultra tall boots with black tights, a short skirt and maybe something with a little texture and bulk to it since your boots are so fitted and sleek.
